Knox It Out of the Park

This season Lincoln North Star High school has a star in the making in sophomore Olivia Knox. Knox had one of the best seasons in North Star history and she is only a sophomore. The star studded out fielder led the charge for the Gators stepping up in the biggest moments for the Gators. In her sophomore campaign she finished the season with a .511 batting average and  an on base percentage of .540 while also racking up 47 hits, 38 rbi’s and 33 runs scored for the Gators. 

After some early season injuries the Gators were short handed at the short stop position and the head coach Dave Rhul turned to his swiss army knife, Olivia Knox,

and moved her to short stop for a few games until their main short stop Remy Sunken came back from injury. “Olivia had an outstanding sophomore season, showcasing her strengths both at the plate and in the field. Her work ethic, competitive spirit, and steady leadership makes her an invaluable part of our softball program. Olivia continues to set a high standard as a student-athlete and is a great representative of North Star,” Ruhl said. 

At the conclusion of the season MaxPreps came out with a softball player of the year, with her outstanding performance on the diamond this fall sophomore Olivia Knox was selected for this award. “Winning this award means a lot to me because I put in a lot of in the offseason that people don’t see, winning this award this year makes me more motivated for next year and I plan on winning this award again”. With two more years of high school left Knox is on pace to break multiple career records at North Star and plans to help lead the gators to the state tournament.
