Gator Success at State FBLA

This past week some North Star gators went to Kearney, Nebraska for state FBLA. One of the many who placed was Max Roberts (12). Roberts has been a part of FBLA since his sophomore year.  His favorite thing about FBLA is the competitions and seeing a higher skill level. His favorite memory was winning business law this year and getting third place last year in organization leadership because it was his first time ever placing.

During state Max Roberts (12) placed first in both Business law and Organization leadership . He also placed fourth in Human resource management and in public administration and management. To reach this point Roberts designated time nearly everyday since early February towards preparing for his FBLA test.  Roberts also earned North Stars first All – State quality member award. Roberts mentioned it felt super cool and was a goal to get it. He was also surprised when he got it. Roberts will be heading to nationals this summer from June 28th – July 3rd in San Antonio, Texas.

Smiling with his first place glass, what FBLA calls their trophies, is Max Roberts(12). Roberts later went to win another glass trophy.

Max Roberts gave some insight on what to expect at FBLA nationals. “When you walk in you will see some of the best of the best. You go into it mentally wanting to win but if you don’t place it’s okay because you’re with the best. It’s super cool seeing the national level. Large scale and interesting to meet people from all over the US and hearing their experiences with FBLA.” Roberts also went on to say “You also become more in contact with people in your state because you go from team North Star to team Nebraska.” Aside from FBLA events you can visit the Almo, go to the river walk, go karting adventure, and explore Texas. Roberts is very excited to eat a Whataburger, In & Out, and Cava.

Some advice for people new in FBLA or wanting to join is no dream is too big. “My first year I didn’t even place and that really fueled my fire and pushed me to do better. Don’t let anyone or anything try to stop you. Steps back will happen but focus on the long term.
