Every day students walk through the hall and see a familiar figure, but not every student knows her name or has ever spoken to her. Our school resource officer, Officer Quattrocchi plays an important role in keeping our students safe. Beyond her role to keep students safe, she is also a supportive presence when students have a bad day. Her daily job consists of interacting with students and staff. Officer Quattrocchi’s presence is valuable and an important part of North Star’s community.
When did you start working at North Star?
January 2025
What do you enjoy about North Star?
The connection with students, and they are so entertaining and fun to be around.
Why did you choose to work in a school rather than working as a patrol officer?
I have always had a passion to work with kids. Before becoming a patrol officer, I worked as a juvenile officer. I understand that as teenagers, they don’t always think logically about their actions. Many act based on emotions, but I believe there should always be a second chance and opportunity for mistakes. I believe school should be a safe place and I want to be part of that.
How is it different from being a patrol officer?
While working patrol, I often see people on their worst day. In school it’s very different. I get to have conversations with students, and see them on their happy days, sometimes even their best days. I enjoy when students are excited to share their accomplishments with me. There are definitely days I see students aren’t having their best day, but I appreciate they still share it with me.
What is the most rewarding thing about your job?
I could break down the barrier of the stigma surrounding law enforcement. I get to be the officer that students could talk to and work through problems with. Many people view cops as negative or intimidating but knowing I am someone students can trust and approach makes the job feel incredibly rewarding.
What is something people might be surprised to learn about you?
One thing people might be surprised to find out about me is I became a cop because of my daughter. I became a mom at a young age and my daughter is biracial. I gained deeper awareness of the challenges African Americans face with cops. Rather than advocating for change from the outside, I wanted to be part of the solution. I want to be a cop that leaves a positive impact on the community, and help breaks down barriers by showing a different side of law enforcement.
