Introducing one of North Start’s newest clubs, Garage Band Club. The club started at the beginning of this year and was first proposed by senior Thomas Long. Thomas originally wanted to start the group to come together with friends and play some music together after school. It eventually snowballed from a small group of friends to a giant group of people. The group started to meet after school and that’s when the club was formed.
I got an interview with senior Thomas Long to learn a little more about Garage Band Club and what kind of music they play at there meetings. My first question to Thomas was: What is Garage Band Club? His response was “Garage Band Club is where beginners and intermediate levels of guitars, bassists, drummers, vocalist and piano players meet and play together.” My next question to Thomas was: What songs are they learning and working on? His response was “Right now the intermediate group is learning Creep and Everlong and the beginning group is learning Seven Nation Army.” My final question to Thomas was: What is his favorite thing about garage Band Club? His response was “My favorite thing about Garage Band Club is playing with people because playing by yourself is fun but when you’re playing with people and can hear a song come together with people playing and your playing makes it really fun to play and practice.”

I also got the opportunity to interview two members from Garage Band Club, senior Bryce Hawney, and senior Gavin Dannelly. I asked them both what their favorite part about Garage Band Club is? When I asked Bryce Hawney his response was “My favorite part of the club is the clear passion that everyone shares for having fun with music.” When I asked Gavin Dannelly his response was “Being able to play with people and performing a song even with a small group.”
If you’re looking to rock out with some fellow classmates then feel free to join the Garage Band Club. They meet in the band room every Monday after school.
