The North Star Performing Arts is about to present another memorable play. The unified production will be performed on December 4 and 5 at 7:00 p.m., and on December 6 at 2:00 p.m. The excitement it will bring—from performers to audience—will be unmatched. After much planning, the company chose to perform Lyle the Crocodile. The play took two months to put together; rehearsals began in mid‑September.
Senior Dominic Schafer, who plays Hector, was asked what audiences can expect. Schafer said, “How much the value of kindness, being nice, and being positive is shown throughout.” Everyone involved in the production puts in a great deal of time and effort. Schafer said they increased the number of practice rehearsals, even holding some on Saturday mornings.
Junior Marley King, one of the performers who will play the crocodile, shared her thoughts about the production. King said, “I’m most excited that it is a unified production and for people to see how much joy it will bring.” A funny moment King shared was when Brielle Blackeagal was supposed to stand on the other side of the stage but really wanted to stand by the crocodile, so the cast got out of order. The crocodile costume will be especially impressive because of the way it was made and all the attachments that bring it to life. The best prop in the show will be the buildings, which can be turned to show either the outside or the inside of the rooms.
Although the production is geared toward younger children, students and adults can also enjoy the performance. The performing arts department is even scheduling a special daytime performance for elementary students. Tickets are available online or via QR codes posted around the school. Admission is $5 for students and $8 for adults.
