DECA is a business club here at North Star. The focus of the club is to prepare leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in finance, marketing, management, and many more careers. Club president, Hudson Cox, says, “DECA’s goals for this year is to help students figure out what they want to do with their life and help to steer them onto the right path to accomplish those goals. While also striving to win some awards on the way.” Future plans for the club this year is to go to the fall leadership conference on October 11th at Creighton Prep.

The club has many returning members that are now seniors this year. They plan to buckle down and study to hopefully win some awards in the springtime. They hope to do their best at regionals and make their way into the state competition. Last year, senior, Handsone Tong won an award at districts. He said he, “felt like the man of the hour after winning the award.”

DECA also does many volunteering and fundraising events. This year they have had a fundraising event at Runza. Their main goal in doing this was to help students pay for the state competition later on in the year. This year they are also participating in the trunk-or-treat on October 29th at North Star. Lastly, they are also pairing up with FBLA, another business club at North Star to do a food blitz at the Fallbrook Super Saver.
