Gators Like Their Fast Food

By Drew Sallinger

Fast pace life is always accompanied with other things that tend to be just as fast. Fast pace, fast cars, and fast food.

Everyday we have a half hour to sit in the Bayou and enjoy our lunches, but not everyone decides eat at school. If you happen to be an upperclassmen and are allowed to venture off campus to get something to eat, then you always have a choice where it is you want to go. With all of the fast food joints within such a close proximity to Lincoln North Star, that choice is far from an easy one.

North 27th Street is almost overcrowded with restaurants, between Taco Bell, Jimmy Johns, Burger King, McDonalds, Arby’s, Subway, Runza, Fazolis, Culver’s and a few more here and there, it isn’t really the quickest decision to make. Choosing a place to eat is unfortunately made even more difficult due, in part, to the fact that not every fast food place is the same distance away from the school. For example, it might only take three or four minutes to get to McDonalds, but Taco Bell is a good seven or eight minutes away, so having half of your lunch break spent driving just isn’t worth it to some people.

Everyone has a different opinion on where the best place to go is, and a lot of people always get the same thing and would say that that’s the best thing to get.

Junior Austin Gubbels would argue that the hands down place to go is Taco Bell where he often takes senior Caleb Petty. “Hands down, every time I get the Griller, and the five layer burrito,” Gubbels said. Then again, that’s just one person’s point of view.

Senior John Rall said Arby’s was the best place to go. “Half off is just too hard to resist,” said Rall.

“Hands down, McDonalds is the place to go,” junior Connor Musiel said. Musiel went as far as to say that McDonalds was his favorite place to go for lunch, but food isn’t his only reason for going to McDonalds. Musiel’s advice was “If you still have any energy after you eat, there’s always the play place. And I don’t give a damn about the height requirement.” He said he likes the little bridges, but he’s really more of a slide guy.

Junior Brook Bolles would have to disagree, and said Taco Inn’s North Star special is definitely the way to go. Bolles always gets two bean burritos and a combo enchilada whenever he goes to Taco Inn.

There are many different choices when it comes to lunch spots around North Star. The decision is really up to you and everyone has their own opinion about what place is the best eatery.

Whether you’re a burger and fries kind of person, or a sub sandwich person, there’s always a place for you around North Star. Choose wisely though, because once you make it to your destination, you won’t have time to change your mind.
