Prices Get Scary

The weather was just perfect the whole night of Halloween. I was dressed in a brown dress with boots to look like I was Pocahontas. Each of my friends were dressed as a Disney Princess. Our age didn’t stop us from going out to trick-or-treat.  We dressed up along with the all the young kids, who were running around on sugar highs and attempting to run away from their parents to get more candy.

Many people around the month of October are freaking out because they have no idea what to wear to either go to Halloween parties or just to go trick-or-treating. The ideas for costumes are endless; from Lady Gaga, to a Sumo Wrestler to Scooby Doo. Some people are going cheap this year and borrowing costumes just like Trevor Birdzell (11). “I’m borrowing my brother’s sumo wrestler costume so that I can save money.”

Many high school students aren’t looking forward to the prices of Halloween costumes. The starting price for many costumes are $30-40. At Party City, the cheapest Lady Gaga costume is nearly $25, not including accessories which is a whole different thing. The accessories range from $6-7 each. Many people reuse their costumes or aren’t willing to pay the expensive prices for a costume they will wear for one night. Kasey Mueller (11) said, “Last year I just bought a wig because I don’t want to pay as much as for a costume I will wear for one night.” Although Halloween isn’t that far away many people aren’t even going to go trick-or-treating because of the prices they would have to pay for their costumes. Most people just stay at home, watch scary movies, and eat tons of candy or just throw a party together and watch scary movies together.

No matter what your ideas are for Halloween, just know you are never to old to dress up and go trick-or-treating.
