Finding a job can be tiring and full of stress. Knowing where to start can be half the battle.

Livecareer.com has a few tips for getting a job. First, give yourself a self-assessment. Think about your strengths and your weaknesses.  Ask yourself what you like to do, and what you are good at. Ask yourselves you strengths and weaknesses and go with that.

Next, research jobs you might like. Make a list of a few jobs that sound interesting to you. Keep in mind location and what would be convenient to you. You could start out at a fast food place, or work at a store, or little salons, the options are endless.

While most jobs for teenagers don’t require a resume, having one handy can help you remember all the things you have done and who to write down for reference information.

The fourth thing you can do is get yourself organized, have all the tools you need to be successful. Some of the things you could have is nice clothes for your interview, and all your paperwork ready, like your baking things. Be ready for what you are getting yourself into, once you find a job, you will be a lot busier. You will need time management, this will help you have time for activities, work, and family or friends. You could make a calendar to help with time management, or you could make a weekly schedule.

Next you can fill out a few of the job applications that sound interesting to you you can fill it out there or at home. Look confident and ready to have a job when you go to fill out the application.  Once you fill out those applications be ready for calls from the places, and following that interviews.

At you interview, act professional and dress to impress. All interviews are different, but most will have a series of questions, like what do you think a dedicated worker is, and what does it mean to work together. Be yourself and answer to the best of your ability.

Shelby Callender (10) said, “I work at a hair salon called Great Clips. I plan on being a teacher when I grow up, so having a job is helping better me for my future by saving money for college, and helping me do more on my own.”

Sometimes, your place of business might help pay for college, like Hy-vee, or Amigos.

Kobe Smith (10) said, “I work at Amigos. The managers work around my schedule for the most part. It’s also nice because they help pay for college if you stay working there for awhile.” Amigos offers a tuition reimbursement program for employees. When you have a job, and you still have to go to school, balancing time can be tough. Make sure you make time for everything and keep in mind what you need to get done.
