For the past few months, North Star’s theater has been hard at work to present a well rounded play. A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream Fall Play by Willliam Shakespeare will feature a variety of students with many different roles. Our program allows students to help out with the play through makeup, costume, set design, and performance. For many, it has been a great outlet to experience new hobbies, and strengthen passions some students already had.
Regan Perdew and Liz Scharton, who are both seniors, had the opportunity to spread awareness to the Lincoln community through an interview on 10/11 news. Both girls were stoked to share when the play was, how much the tickets cost, and a little sneak peak of what A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream Fall Play would showcase.
Liz Scharton has been a part of theater for 3 years now. She says, “I was selected to be interviewed for 10/11 news since I have a leading role in the play and I’m also an upperclassman.”
As an actress in A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream Fall Play, Dream Fall Play she plays the part as Puck or Robin Goodfellow. Puck’s role is known to be a vivacious fairy, a henchman for Oberon, and a narrator. He often is known as a jokester and is a bit mischievous. Liz states “we have been working hard on this play since August.”
Andy Nguyen is a senior and it is his first year in theater. What brought him to try out was “encouragement from friends who already participate.”
Andy acts as Francis Flute in A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream Fall Play. Flute is an excited young actor that is forced to play a female role. Nguyen is thrilled to have fellow students and family members to come watch him.
Many of the participants have described theater as being one big family. Over the months and years, they have all spent countless hours working together. In hopes of creating a smooth flowing performance, actors and actresses must have a tight knit bond. These partnerships are really what allow the performers to give it their all.
For everyone involved in the play, they are excited to showcase their talents. Gator Nation is encouraged to come see A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream Fall Play on September 28th at 7:00 pm, September 29th at 7:00pm, and September 30th at 2:00pm. Tickets are available on the Lincoln North Star website and also at the front door.
