Even though relationships can bloom all throughout the year, there is always something about those summer flings. A summer fling is the relationship between that one person you get really close with only strictly during the summer.
That summer fling usually comes with the summer and leaves as we head back to school. There are different kinds of summer flings. For example, we have the dreamy lifeguard, who never fails to make us not mind drowning for a few seconds. Then, there is the visiting hook-up, where the temporary attraction is even more tempting when you know it won’t be there all summer. Then there is the foreigner you meet under the Eiffel tower of Paris, or under the Tuscan sun of Italy. A lot of relationships also bloom during the parties thrown on those Friday and Saturday nights.
Summer romances are definitely a good way to spice up the never-ending heat. Most reasons they don’t last is due to distance. Since a lot of summer relationships begin with a visit, when the person moves back, it can be difficult to keep the bond. Basically, communication is what keeps relationships going, even in a summer fling. Sometimes there will be a situation where you might want more out of the affair, or you don’t want anything other than a fling, where as he or she might want the opposite. That is why communication is key in any relationship. Talk it out and make sure both of you want the same thing, otherwise someone can get hurt.
Just because summer has come to an end, doesn’t mean all of the fun and excitement is gone too. There are many more bonds to create, whether it leads to broken hearts or a love life, expect the unexpected because relationships can definitely surprise you.
