Final Recognition

By Megan Woodard

Last Thursday marked the final time seniors would be recognized for their academic achievement at North Star High School. Many seniors were recognized for being on honor roll, earning academic letters, earning pins (even two for some of them), and earning the right to be top 3 percent of their class. Juniors, sophomores, and freshmen were also recognized for top 3 percent and honor roll.

The spring Honors Convocation is a little different than the fall, mainly because an extra hundred or so students are added into the mix because the freshmen now have an entire semester of academic achievement under their belts. The second semester convocation also brings opportunity to recognize seniors who have some really huge accomplishments to show off, including Marisa Schild, who is one of few Gators to ever be a National Merit Finalist from her score on the PSAT.

With the Code Red situation that fell right at the end of the ceremony, it was a more interesting Honors Convocation than most. Nonetheless, LNS students were recognized for the hard work they’ve put into school so far this year, and that’s something to celebrate.
