Models Strut Their Stuff

It’s that time of the year again! The 5th Annual Prom Fashion Show, put on by National Honor Society, was held on Thursday, Feb. 7. As 10 male models took the stage wearing the hottest new tuxes from Men’s Wearhouse, 11 girls followed with various styles of dresses, all from David’s Bridal.

“It’s always a good time and for a good cause too,” said senior emcee Lexye Bruggeman. Each year, National Honor Society decides to donate half of their proceeds to a philanthropic cause, and this year is no different.

This year, the Molifua family was chosen by NHS to receive the proceeds from the fashion show admission because of Mikaelah Molifua’s recent diagnosis of Hodgkins’ Lymphoma.

This year all of the models were randomly picked out of a hat and chosen by some members of NHS.

The most popular trends this year for the girls were chiffon, blues and peaches. As for the guys, pin stripe and white were popular.

The models spent many hours in David’s Bridal picking out the beautiful dresses they wore during the fashion show. The male models on the other hand went to Men’s Wearhouse, and had two days to pick out their tuxes; one day for their fitting, and another day to pick out styles and colors.

During intermission, North Star’s slam poetry team performed four poems and the Hip Hop club also made an appearance to entertain the crowd while the models made their changes.

Each model had their chance to walk out onto the stage in two different prom outfits from David’s Bridal and Men’s Wearhouse, and then once more displaying their own personal style with a post-prom outfit.

The prom fashion show is always for a good cause. The past couple of years NHS donated their proceeds to the Make a Wish Foundation.

If you are interested in becoming a model in the fashion show next year, and are a junior or senior, make sure to talk to Ms. Meyer as soon as prom season rolls around next year.
