Average First Frost Expected Soon

By Kyler Johnson/Gator Galaxy Staff
It is now October and that means we can start talking about the first freezing temperatures of the season and possibly even the first snowfall.

Western Nebraska typically sees an earlier freeze when compared to eastern Nebraska.

Suprisingly, some locations have already seen their first freeze. Two of the locations are Scottsbluff and Kimball, Nebraska. These locations reached their first freeze towards the end of August.

Other than that, we have seen temperatures above average and we aren’t expecting a huge pattern change for at least the next week or two. However, towards the end of this month, things could be a different story.

Please keep in mind that there is a huge variation every year of when the first freeze occurs.

Here is a breakdown by locations across the state.
