It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is this next week, it is safe to say that 2015 has gone very fast. However, this next week will be very interesting in-terms of weather. Let’s take a look at Lincoln’s forecast for the next seven days.
Currently, this Saturday is looking to be a very cold one, if not the coldest Saturday this season. On the bright side, Saturday will be sunny (pun intended). As we look at Sunday and Monday highs should warm back up into the upper 40’s and lower 50’s with clear conditions. Tuesday mostly clear skies can be expected, however there will be some passing clouds with stationary front of to our east. Wednesday evening it does look like we will have a shot at some light showers as the next system to possibly bring us accumulating snow moves into the area.
Thanksgiving will be pretty dicey, so it will be a good idea to continuously check the forecast, that way your plans don’t get ruined. Highs are looking to be in the mid to lower 40s with gusty winds out of the north gusting to 30 mph. Those windy conditions will lead to very cold wind chill values on Thanksgiving, so bundle up if you’re going to be outside. There is also a 40 percent chance of showers during the afternoon, during the evening temperatures will drop below the freezing mark leading to rain transitioning into snow. It very early to put exactly totals out on the storm, but right now it looks like 1 to 3 inches of snow is possible. Definitely monitor the forecast for changes. On Friday, the high may not make it above the freezing mark, which is definitely not good news for Black Friday shoppers. It looks that any remaining snow left over from Thanksgiving will move out of the area by the early afternoon Friday, the breezy conditions will also persist. If you plan on going Black Friday shopping, be very careful for slick conditions if snow does decide to fall, also bundle up if you plan on standing outside. The past two Thanksgiving’s in Lincoln have been relatively warm so this will be a big change!
