Girls Soccer: A Closer Look

The North Star girls soccer team is off to a good start. They are 6-6 so far, but have losses to some very respectable opponents. However, they feel like they’re constantly improving from each game to the next. “We’ve changed some formations and it’s really helped us. We’re better than we were last season,” said Heidi Bartsch (11).

The Varsity girls soccer team feels that having Coach Gillotti in her second year and their team chemistry is helping them tremendously. “I love Mrs. Gillotti. She’s a great coach and she knows a lot about the game. She’s going to keep building up our program to a state tournament team in the near future,” said Kelsey Cumblidge (10).

The Gators are a very tight-knit unit both on and off the field. “We have great team chemistry. We hang out literally every day even outside of practice. We all get along great,” said senior goalie Megan Witcig. This seemed to be a 100 percent consensus with the girls on the team, which can be a tough thing when you have girls of every grade on varsity. However, this doesn’t seem to be bothering them one bit.

The Gators still have a tough schedule remaining, but they don’t feel that’s going to stop them. “We have tough games coming up, but we can still overcome that. We will have to play well, but they’re still winable games,” said Leyton Bruegman (9).

These tough games should help the Lady Gators as they get towards the end of the season.
