With it only being a couple of months into the school year, Rafa Ahmed has already accomplished many amazing things. Rafa is a senior who has been at North Star all four years. She plays many different roles in her community that represent what a true gator looks like. Even with being National Honor Society President, working at the Belmont Community Center, being part of North Star’s Hope Squad, and participating in organizations outside of school, she manages to balance it all out with her school life. When asked what inspired her to become so involved, she said, “I wanted to positively impact my community and I try my best to do that by staying involved”.
Her willingness to take on challenges has opened many doors. On September 24th, she attended the 11th annual Lincoln Journal Star Inspire Awards. The Inspire Awards were established in 2015 to spotlight the achievements of women who have brought positive change to their communities. Ahmed wasn’t just a Finalist for one, but for two different awards, The Young Leader’s Award, and Woman of The Year Award! With no shock, she won and proudly accepted the Young Leader’s Award. Ahmed has done many great things that contributed to winning the award.

At North Star, she is a part of Hope Squad, where she is the Social Media Manager. She has been a member for the past three years and uses her role to give support and encouragement to her peers. Additionally, Ahmed ran with her running mate, Alexis Parde (12), just at the beginning of this school year. With having to submit their applications, speak in front of other members, and going against others, Ahmed successfully earned the position of NHS president, alongside her vice president, Alexis!
Outside of North Star, she is involved with the LPS Equity Cadre. which is a group of students from around LPS who come together to speak on equity and advocate for students who aren’t able to advocate for themselves. She joined this group as a freshman and stated that “it feels like we get to actually make an impact on LPS and ensure that LPS is a great place for current and future students”. On top of that, she also spends some of her days at Belmont Community center working for their after school program! These are just a few of many things that she has taken part in. She tries her best to attend and contribute to any event that stands for what she believes in. Rafa is one of many individuals at North Star who have been able to positively represent our school.
