As we reach the end of this quarter at Lincoln North Star High School, our students are becoming more familiar with classes and they are getting to know their teachers better. First let’s see how one of our students at LNS feels about the quarter ending! Ella Ferrin (11) has spent her first two years and first quarter of her junior year here at Lincoln North Star. Over the time she has spent at LNS, she feels that “LNS differs from other schools because of its diversity”. When asked about this current school quarter, she responded with “It feels like this quarter flew by.”. Our students have been getting settled into their courses and continuing to meet their teachers but Ella feels like this quarter has just started. Helping us get settled is our teachers when they contribute to our learning and comfort us throughout the problems we face in the stressful first days of the new school year.
Speaking of teachers, one of the teachers I had the pleasure of meeting with was Derek Hansen. Mr.Hansen’s position at LNS for the past four years has been a Chemistry Teacher. He has a full schedule with teaching in all the periods except for 5th. He is one of the most entertaining teachers and he makes all of these classes safe while being interesting to all students. When inquired about his experience with this quarter, he claimed, “Classes have been going pretty well. I enjoy my AP classes because it means I get to see old students and meet new ones.”. Mr.Hansen gets the honor to teach some
of the best scholars at LNS in his Differentiated Chemistry and Advanced Placement Chemistry classes. I questioned him about his favorite classes to teach, he responded with, “Every period has its own unique personality both due to the students and the period of the day it is. So I am unable to pick a single favorite class because I am honestly enjoying all of them.”. Mr.Hansen feels as if the classes and the students are doing
well in their assignments, which contributes to a sense of triumph to this start of the school year.
All is well at Lincoln North Star High School as we finish our first quarter! Our sports are underway and academics are leading toward success. This quarter is going to lead and make a base to a prosperous 2025-2026. We will get the honor of seeing all of our students bloom as this year continues. I’m ecstatic about where our LNS staff and students can create with this new school year.
