At Lincoln North Star, student life doesn’t stop when the last bell rings. Seniors Brennan Harris and Will Schafer are two gators who show how much students do o

utside of the classroom, whether it’s through work, sports, or hobbies.
For Brennan Harris, this school year looks a little different. With an early release schedule, he is able to head straight to work. “My daily routine has changed a bit this year since I got out earlier, I can go to work earlier,” Harris said. “My priorities have stayed the same though, get good grades and make as much money as possible.”
Outside of school and work, Harris is a big Husker fan. Gamedays are something he grew up with and still enjoys today. “I’ve loved the Huskers more than almost anything in the world my entire life,” Harris said. “My grandpa and dad had season tickets until 2015, so I want to carry on the tradition in my family of going to all the games.” Saturdays in the fall have become a way for him to connect with his family while cheering on his team.
Another part of Harris’s life is golf, a sport he has picked up in the last few years.

“I just got into golf a few years ago after my grandparents told me how fun it was,” Harris said. “Golf plays a huge role in my life by being my way of relieving stress and staying competitive.” Whether it’s practicing or playing with friends, the sport gives him a way to relax while still staying active.
While Harris spends his free time working, golfing, or at Husker games, senior Will Schafer is focused on basketball. Schafer has been a varsity starter since his freshman year and is now a leader for the Gators. “I have evolved into a more vocal leader with more responsibilities on and off the court, especially now that we are considered a top team in the state,” Schafer said.
Schafer also finds time to balance his job and involvement in groups like NHS and FBLA. “I have managed by sacrificing some of my free time to do more of what I want to do,” Schafer said. Through those activities, he’s built connections. “I have learned that there are some pretty cool people out there and you just have to apply yourself if you want to meet them.”

Both Harris and Schafer show that student life at North Star isn’t only about classes. From work and traditions to sports and leadership, Gators are finding their own ways to stay busy outside of school.
