As spring sports warm up, new and returning athletes go back to their respective courts, fields, and tracks to give spotlight to what North Star has to show. Competing before being in the classroom, junior Brandt Warner first started playing baseball when he was five. Warner stated that practices began at the “start of March.” Warner mentioned that the practices were fun and that the team had a lot of preseason work before the actual practices started.

A competitive threat on the court junior, Hannah Simpson, has been on the tennis court for seven years. Simpson stated that the team started practices “at the end of February.” Simpson also mentioned that the first practices included conditioning, learning the basics of tennis, and group culture. Growing up on the soccer field, sophomore Eva Sindelar has been playing tennis since she was four years old. Sindelar stated that the first few practices, “were fun because it was like tryouts.”
In his opening debut season as a Gator, freshman Henry Kleppinger has played soccer for seven years. When asked about how the first few practices went Kleppinger mentioned that the practices stimulated a positive amount of stress that was manageable.

When asked about how the season has gone so far Warner stated that he’s looking forward to “competing with the team, having fun, and trying to win games.” Sindelar looked towards the overall progress of the team and stated that she’s looking forward to “growing as a team.” Simpson mentioned that she’s looking to state because she has the opportunity to compete in doubles. When the athletes were asked what their favorite part of their respective season has been so far Warner mentioned the varsity teams comeback against Fremont high school when they were down 7-1 and made a comeback in the last inning. Sindelar shared the bus rides because they talk and have fun together. Simpson stated that her favorite part so far was their first meet because it was a good time for her and her doubles partner, senior Ivanna Ramos to connect. Kleppinger also mentioned the Boys Soccer Teams’ bus rides because of how the team connects.
Overall, the teams have had a strong start to the season. With every game, win or loss, the teams have shown North Star in a positive light and have truly prevailed as Gators. As the seasons continue it is not a farce to claim that the teams will bring athletic success to North Star.
