As one term of Student Council comes to a close the final responsibility for the executive members is a proper transition. Part of the transition includes selecting new members for the next term. Starting in early November the Student Council sponsors, current executive team, and the newly elected executive members came together to find a new council through an application and interview process. With fourteen spots open students from across the school gave their input on how they believed they could best help the school and student body by filling one of those spots. From that, the sponsors, current, and future exec members graded the applications and interviews by using a point system. From that, the top fourteen candidates were given the chance to join.
Current president senior Malique Manseh stated that, “I am excited to see how the council shapes and takes a turn for the better.” When asked about how he personally grades and what he looks for he said “during the interview I looked for answers that show what type of leaders and people they were.” Co-Sponsor Ms.Kutscher stated “I’m excited to see the new ideas that they will bring to the table and I am so excited to see them excel in council.” When they were asked to give a few words for the new members Manseh said, “I’m excited to see what they’re going to achieve.” Kutscher wants new members to “keep it positive and fun” as she believes that success becomes more capable when a positive environment is present. While the new members have two more weeks until they become active in council the executive team is working to make sure that the transition is positive and organized. The newly elected executive team is currently organizing the schedule of future events while the old executive board is helping close off the term in a positive outlook. While the Student Council is quieting down to some, the members of the next term are eager and ready to serve North Star.
