It’s that time of year again for the annual blood drive at North Star! The North Star blood drive offers an opportunity for teachers, students and staff to make a meaningful donation to public health. Blood donations are extremely crucial for hospitals to keep a steady supply. Each donation has the opportunity to potentially save a life in case of emergency. Not only does the blood drive show the importance of giving blood but it highlights how something as easy and simple, such as giving blood, can have such a big and meaningful impact, especially if you donate regularly.
By participating in the blood drive, individuals can positively impact their communities. One student, Brooke Plahn (12), shared her motivation for donating, “I know blood supplies are low, and it’s something easy and quick I can do to make a big difference in others lives.” Her words reflect how so many feel after giving blood, knowing that their blood could potentially save someone’s life. The blood drive shows us that when we all work together in acts of kindness, we can make a lasting impact on our public health.
