As the leaves start turning and the sun begins to set sooner, North Star’s 2024 girls varsity golf team makes their stunning return. Six girls make up the starting varsity roster, including three newcomers. These new players herald a new bright era for the North Stars girls golf team. Of course, the returning veterans’ skills can’t be understated either; their experience and familiarity with the sport are crucial aspects to bolstering their team.
The Gators can be seen honing their skills at their home course of Highlands. Whether it be practicing on the driving range or the putting greens, it’s clear to see how much time and effort the Gators have poured into the game. Besides basic practice, you can catch the girls on the course during their routine practice rounds, where they really let their skills shine. The Gators are all pumped to get this season underway. Although having already played four successful tournaments this year, they’re still amped to improve over these coming fall months. Their most recent tournament was none other than the Gator Invite, an annual event hosted at Highlands Golf Course every year. Due to the added familiarity of their home course, the Gators held a cheeky advantage over their competitors. The nine a.m. tee time required the Gators to be awake bright and early, giving North Star a well rested and acute team. Upon arriving (and briefly warming up), the Gators set off for their starting holes. The course was decorated with vibrant sunflowers and green grass, a welcome positive of the early fall season. The Highlands course features two large water hazards, which provide even more serene scenery. The Gators performed well at this event, and Coach Friesen is hopeful for the future of North Star girls golf. Fans of the sport and players alike are keeping an eye out for this team, so be sure to watch out for these rising stars. |

My name is Evan Tyler, and this is my first year in Mass Media. I’m a senior here at North Star, and am currently involved in NHS, FBLA, SkillsUSA, and golf. I’m ready to write some crazy stories this year, and hopefully take some decent photos. |
I love the number of opportunities students are given at North Star. |
