Coach Chamberlin isn’t brand new to the North Star community this year. Though he might be new to the school and in the LNS classroom, Chamberlin has been coaching tennis at North Star for four years. Chamberlain is the boys varsity coach and the girls JV. Chamberlin strives everyday to make tennis at NorthStar to get better and get more recognition. Chamberlin has started to build the boys tennis team and will continue until they have reached their full potential. With Chamberlin’s new role here at North Star, and being the boys varsity tennis coach we asked him a couple of questions to get to know him better.
What’s your favorite part about coaching tennis?
“Getting to coach guys who want to represent their school well and showcase the identity of North Star in tennis is something that makes it special.”
What made you want to come teach at North Star, and what do you think of North Star?
“To me, there is no greater school out there than North Star. The kids that come here, the culture of the staff, and the pride that everyone takes being a Gator makes it special. Having taught in 5 other schools and working in various after school/summer programs, it’s
truly a privilege to get to work in these halls every day.”
What’s one piece of advice you would give to a student who wants to try tennis but maybe has never played?
“Go out and give tennis an hour of your time if you’re unsure. Forget what you’ve heard about it from friends or family and try it for yourself. You may end up
loving it!”
What has been your favorite part about this season?
“My favorite part of the season has been working with the guys. I think we have an incredible team of guys that care about getting better, which is a dream come true as a coach. What I love is that they’re willing to work above and beyond to get better, and they bring a tremendous attitude to the courts that make it easy to coach.”
