Ms. Brust is one of the art teachers within the North Star C hall. Not only does she teach art, but she also does art herself. She teaches Gator students how to make pottery and 2D art as well as teaching them to explore their creative ideas. She’s able to connect with students, supporting any and all their creative ideas. Not only can Ms. Brust be a good teacher, but a good person in general. If you ever walk into her class, you’ll always find her helping students with their pieces of art. If not, then you’ll find her making conversation, and going to numerous events, such as sports, to cheer her students on.
Not only does Ms. Brust teach her students how to make art, but she also makes art herself. For example, one of her art pieces Death Bed was 2nd place in the International Cone Box Show. This piece was also purchased by Winnie Owens-Hart (a famous artist in ceramics) for her private collection. Around the fall and halloween time Ms. Brust enjoys painting different pieces for Vala’s Pumpkin patch. If you ever get the chance to go, you’ll definitely be able to find some of her pieces. Ms. Brust teaches her students a wide range of art mediums, which she also uses when she makes art. She uses different types of media such as pottery, pencil, marker, paint, watercolor, and more.
Not only is Ms. Brust an art teacher, but she is also an artist. With this being said, she knows a thing or two about art. She knows how to make a class fun and enjoyable, getting students to feel welcomed to share their ideas. According to junior Velet Johnson, “She is one of my favorite teachers and always knows how to motivate you.” Ms. Brust is an understanding and accommodating teacher who is able to make all students feel welcomed to her class!
