So, how many tests have you had today? How well did you prepare? Did you think it was going to be easier than it was? Well, I’m here to help you out by providing a few test taking tips.
A test is meant to measure the quality of your learning and the amount of information you have taken in. A test is a way to prove yourself, or break yourself. There is no way to avoid them.
Tip #1: The most important thing is studying. Everyone has tried at least once to cram for a test. How did that go? Even if you did well, you probably forgot everything the next day ensuring your failure on the final. A good way to avoid cramming is to start studying right away. If you commit things to memory right after the lesson, you most likely won’t have any problems the few days before the test.
Tip #2: Homework, students are annoyed by it. However, homework can be a great way to study. Your teacher usually gives you homework because there is a concept in the homework you will need to know for the test. Homework is also a great way to practice what you may already know. Doing a couple extra problems out of your textbook won’t hurt either.
Tip #3: As you already know, the most important part about a test is the couple days before you take it. This is when teachers really start to give hints about the contents of the test. Try to pay extra attention. Your teacher may also run review sessions after school. It is very important to attend these if you do not fully understand the material that will be tested. Also, make sure you look over your homework and make sure you fully understand what you spend your time doing.
The night before a test has to be the most stressful time. The cramming, nail biting, and brief accidental naps every five minutes never come to an end, but the key to avoiding these series of aggravating events is right in front of your eyes. Remember if you start early, do your homework, pay attention in class, no all-nighters will be necessary, and you will be able to take your test free of anxiety. Good luck!
