Optimism on the Field

It’s the time of the year again where girls obsess over baseball players’ butts and the famous Farmer Tans take their revenge. Baseball has been known for years as America’s favorite past-time, and even though football is quickly taking the limelight, North Star’s baseball players are stealing back the fame.

North Star’s baseball players hit tryouts with full force the week of Feb. 26. “Tryouts were really long and exhausting. We all worked really hard and gave it our all,” said Braydon Cox (9).

After getting their results on the Feb. 29, everyone felt confident with their teams. “We don’t have much to improve on for varsity. Our team this year is pretty solid. All we need to focus on is winning and making it to state,” said Brook Bolles (11).

North Star’s varsity baseball team has high hopes for the season. “We’re going to be great this year. I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t get to state,” said Bolles. Senior Alex Caruso said, “This season should be a good one. We have a pretty great team this year and I don’t see why we won’t make it to state.”

With a lot of confidence and anticipation, varsity started their season with a game against Fremont Archbishop Bergan on March 19. “The game against Bergan was good. We won 8-2 with ten hits and four doubles. Seth (Wilder) started off the rally with a two-run double down the third baseline. After that, the runs just kept coming,” said Bolles.

Now that tryouts are over and teams are set, North Star’s baseball teams are all looking forward to a successful season. Everyone is confident with themselves and their teams, especially varsity who has high hopes for qualifying for state.

The start of North Star’s baseball season has been highly anticipated by many and everyone can see the success of their season in front of them.
