What You Should Be Listening To This Spring

It’s almost summertime, which means it’s time to start pushing away the blues of the cold winter and welcoming the upbeat songs of the spring and summer. You could listen to these poolside, or just jam on O Street no matter your taste in music, we’ve got you covered. Here are our top ten picks:

  1. “West Coast” – Lana Del Rey: Even though this song is almost two-years old, it still gives you those summer feels. After listening to this song for just a couple of times, you’ll be singing along to the catchy lines.
  1. “Uptight Downtown” – La Roux: You probably haven’t heard anything from La Roux since the summer of 2010. This singer, famous for “Bulletproof, has reappeared into the spotlight with one of her newest singles titled, “Uptight Downtown. This song is very upbeat, and it’s fun to cruise to.
  1. “Froot” – Marina and The Diamonds: This is Marina’s newest album. The song, “Froot” goes from those great high parts all the way down to the low parts. Her voice is very smooth. After all, she’s “living la dolce vita”.
  1. “Polarize” – Twenty one pilots: Twenty one pilots have recently become popular on the radio with their song “Stressed Out”, but that’s not the only catchy song on their album, “Polarize” is very repetitive and catchy, but it’s great to listen to, especially if you’re just chilling with friends.
  1. “Needed Me” – Rihanna: It’s been about two years since Rihanna’s last album, currently, “Work” (feat. Drake) is popular on the radio, but if you take a look at the iTunes top charts, you’ll see that “Needed Me” is on top of the lists as well. This is a great song to listen to, In some sense, the song gets you in the feels.
  1. “Delilah” – Florence + The Machine: “Delilah” is a song that reflects on how we make mistakes as human beings while the song may sound a little bit depressing, the beat and execution of the song make it feel far from that. This is a great song to listen to, especially if you just need to jam out.
  1. “Lay You Down Easy” (feat. Sean Paul) – MAGIC!: This is the newest single by MAGIC! While it does sound like the music we’ve heard before from them, it’s still a song worth listening to. It will be interesting to see how their next album turns out. Maybe they’ll have some more hit songs.
  1. “Team” – Iggy Azalea: Some people have a strong opinion against Iggy, but you’ve got to give her a chance. Her newest song is very catchy, and it’s a good song to work out to. You need to add this to your playlist.
  1. “Victorious” – Panic! At the Disco: After listening for about the twentieth time, this song has still not gotten old. Sure, most people haven’t heard Panic! At the Disco since the mid-2000’s, but leader singer, Brendon Urie is back better than ever with the newest album “Death Of A Bachelor”. Yes, ladies, he is no longer a bachelor anymore.
  1. “Foreign Lovers” – Ra Ra Riot: You’ve likely never heard about this rock band before, but in their new album “Need Your Light” there are many great songs, so it’s worth checking out, especially “Foreign Lovers.

While this list only goes up to ten, there are still many more songs that are great to listen to. If you want something new, head to  your iPhone and look on the iTunes new music of the week playlists or go on your Spotify app and do the same. If you have an Android device you can head to the Google Play Store and check out the trending music. This is the easiest was to find new music and impress all of your friends with your excellent taste in music. This also helps you find new artists that you may see down the road.
