With state wrestling just around the corner, North Star wrestlers have had a very successful season.

First year wrestler, junior Keovin Keodouangdy said, ” My first year has been going great. I have met a lot of new people.”

The team placed 6th at the Gator Invitational on Jan. 8. “I think we did an awesome job. We gotta grind even harder to get into the top three.”

Junior Riley McNair said his season is “way better than last year. I’ve got three times more pins than I did last year.”

Coach Jake Froscheiser said, “We have a lot of young kids this year getting experienced and one senior looking to finish his career out strong.”

During the last home meet of the season, the Gators fell 40-39 to Omaha Bryan after a trip to the rule books had to break the 39-39 tie. Then, North Star beat Lincoln High 59-21 to end the triangular.

The Gator grapplers head out this weekend with JV traveling to Fairbury Friday for the Fairbury Invitational, and varsity traveling to the Norfolk Invitational.
