Bullying happens to almost everyone in some form or another and has become a common problem everywhere. More than one in four people are bullied every year.

Most students have been victims of bullying or have seen it happen, but that’s the thing; we see it happening, but are people actually doing something to help stop it?  Researchers have found that a bystander can play a vital role to stop this national issue. It’s normal for people to want to stay out of things for the fear of becoming the ones being bullied. But standing up to a bully can be very rewarding and easier than you ever thought.

The new “I Am A Witness” campaign helps to stop the spread of bullying with a simple click of the keyboard. It focuses on making it possible for the “silent majority” to speak up. The main part of this new campaign is the “Witness Emoji” that can be downloaded to any smartphone using either the Apple App Store or Google Play Store for free and has a wide variety of emojis, gifs, and stickers to choose from. This emoji enables bystanders to show support for someone being bullied on social media by posting the emoji online or through messaging. With the help of I Am A Witness victims can get additional help and resources through the website.
