The boys football team suffered a tough loss to Bellevue West on Friday, Oct. 30 as they fell to the Thunderbirds 55-7.

The Gators had high hopes entering the state playoffs after missing the tournament the past two seasons.

Junior Riley McNair said, “We were really pumped going in. After getting a spot in the playoffs, when we lost to Southwest, we felt like we had to prove something. We were all really motivated for the game.”

The school also had the team’s back. Posters and pride filled the hallways on game day, especially during the GatorWalk.

Junior Alexa Mustard said, “Traveling up to Bellevue to watch the boys was so fun. We could all feel the excitement in the stadium as we cheered on our boys.”

Many seniors played their final Friday game that night, and the memories came fast. Senior Dillon Ertz said, “It was hard walking off that field. Knowing some of us will never play again, or with each other, hit hard. It was really fun while it lasted. I’ll never forget it.”

Until next season, the boys will be prepping for another state visit.
