Time for LUNCH!

Time for LUNCH!

During the day, students work up an appetite and count down the class periods until lunch break.

For underclassmen this is not a problem, as there are many different choices to indulge in right in the cafeteria. But, for upperclassmen, the choices can be far greater when you have the privilege of leaving campus for lunch. Many students find it hard to find a place to eat that is tasty, but will also not drain the bank account.

North Star’s location makes it easy to have different locations to choose from, whether you’re craving nachos or a slice of pizza.

Some students’ favorite places to go are Wendy’s, Runza, and DQ. All have items priced right if you’re looking for a quick cheap meal and even offer discounts if you show your school ID. “My favorite place to go is Fazoli’s, because it’s fast and you get unlimited breadsticks without an extra cost, so I can just get full off of them,” junior Julia Fomenko said.

Sam’s Club is also a good option when trying to save money. “It’s really close and you get a good amount of food for the price,” said senior Justine Griess. Sam’s has good portion sizes and lots of options to choose from and you don’t need a membership to go in and eat. Because it is so close to school, this can be a very efficient choice when choosing your lunch time meal and you maybe never even knew you could go.

For many upperclassmen, eating out everyday can be an expensive, not to mention unhealthy, choice. Packing lunches can be very a smart alternative when planning your meal. You can pick what you want to eat and make it the night before. “I pack a lunch about three out of the five days at school and I have saved a lot of money and time doing that,” said junior Katie Bruggeman. If you make your lunch the night before, it’s ready when you’re rushing out the door in the morning on your way to class. Even if you want to go out with your friends, you can bring your lunch and still enjoy your meal with friends, while not wasting money.

Sometimes upperclassmen forget there is lunch just down the hall. The North Star cafeteria offers different entrees each day and the Snack Shack is always filled with pizza, ice cream, and chicken sandwiches if you don’t feel like waiting in the main lunch line. When eating at school, you don’t have to worry about getting your food fast enough or driving back from a restaurant to get to your classes on time.
