The team has had many new players “There were way more people who tried out this year. This is the first time they have actually had to cut people from the team” said Trystyn Cox (10) who plays for the junior varsity team. “From last year to this year there was a huge increase of freshmen that tried out” said Nicole Bogus (11) Who plays varsity

Quite a number of people have never played tennis before“Once you learn the basics of tennis it’s not too difficult. The only thing that’s hard to get past is the mental blocks that come and go as the season progresses” said Bogus..

The tennis team takes a lot of pride in how close they are to each other. They consider themselves a family. “The varsity team this year is full of returners from last year. We are very close to each other and help each other everyday to get better than we were the day before, creating a  lot of good and healthy competition throughout our practices” said Bogus

Tennis has been pretty successful this year but there are always things you can improve on. “I’m hoping to improve on the power of my serve and my back hands.” said Cox “I’m hoping to improve on my aggressiveness during doubles.” said Bogus.

A lot of the tennis team seems to have the same goals and what they want to accomplish for the rest of this tennis season.

“My goal for this year is to have my team win city” said Cox

“One of my overall goals this year is to get a good seed at state and make it to the second of state.” Bogus said. “I hope as a team we can move up in the ranking and become a top 5 team.”
